First post!

I’ve wanted to start a blog for a while but it’s taken me a lot of time to actually pluck up the courage to do so. It’s daunting as the chances are that no one will actually want to hear what I have to say.

Anyway, this week my make up bag needed a major overhaul. It was painfully expensive but it had to be done. No girl will turn down the opportunity to go make up shopping anyway.

The first thing I needed was a stippling brush. While I’ve never used one before I had only heard good things about them. Recently my skin has been going through a horrific bad patch and spots are popping up everywhere leaving behind bad scarring. I found that applying my foundation with my fingers was not giving me the coverage that I was hoping for and was highlighting any spots and scars rather than covering them.

The brush I ended up choosing was the Real Techniques Stippling Brush (£11.99 from Boots). I have used it now to get ready for both and day and night and have gotten on very well with it. The bristles, while feeling soft, are stiff enough to stipple my liquid foundation and blend it in perfectly. I’m hoping the brush will last and won’t shed, if I have any problems with it in the future I will post in on here! So far I think this brush has been excellent value for money.

Now I have started stippling my foundation it takes me at least an extra five minutes to get ready which can drive me mad, but when I'm finally done I always think the results are worth it! It gives me a photoshop finish, especially once I've set my foundation with powder.

I also bought myself the MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Enriched Moisturising Facebase (£15 from Superdrug).  I was skeptical about this product as I hadn’t really heard about this brand before and it was fairly expensive. It’s very thick and much more like a moisturiser than any primer I have ever used. It claims that it is lightly scented with citrus fruits, however, I found that it has quite a strong smell and I don’t massively enjoy putting heavily scented products on my face. Don’t get me wrong, it does smell nice just very strong for a face product! It has a lovely silky texture and provides an excellent base for my foundation while making my make up last a lot longer throughout the day.

After about a week of using this product I am likely to buy it again. I have been recommending it to friends, despite the ridiculously long name! It says that it is enriched with Shea butter, Vitamin A and Beta-Carotene to rejuvenate, nourish and hydrate skin. I have definitely found that my skin is more moisturised than before I started using it so it ticks all the boxes in that respect. The only qualm I have with this product is the pot. Sometimes I feel like its a little unhygienic and find myself wishing it was in a pump bottle.

I bought so many products that I thought I should split them over a few blogposts to avoid it being crammed with too much information and too many photos. I'll upload all the products over the next few weeks so keep an eye out!

I would love to know if anyone has any alternative brushes or primers that they love and could recommend so I could give those a go too!
